hollywoodnews.com:Thursday afternoon in Comic-Con’s storied Hall H, Angelina Jolie introduced footage from her new film Salt and fielded affectionate if slightly repetitive questions from fans. Following a screening of the theatrical trailer, Jolie joined director Phillip Noyce, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and co-star Liev Schreiber for a lively question and answer session about her eclectic and hugely successful acting career. “I thought it was one of the smartest scripts I’d read,” Jolie told the panel’s moderator when asked why she picked the film over what was likely her choice of action-oriented options. “I’d done a lot of action movies, but they were always rooted in fantasy in some way, so it was the first time I got to do something in reality and I think that makes all of the action harder and tougher, and just a lot more fun.” Despite repeated attempts from fans to get her to talk about he character in depth, Jolie skillfully navigated her way around details about Evelyn Salt without leaving the audience with nothing. “She’s a fascinating character,” Jolie said. “You can never talk about her, because it’s all a secret and you’ve got to let the pieces unravel, but she’s a real interesting kind of damaged, unusual type of person, so I think people will relate to her in a very different way and identify with her.” At the same time, Jolie indicated that the tone and execution of the film made it a different and more rewarding experience than many of those she’d done in the past. “I love doing action, and I love doing dramatic films, and I’ve never really been able to combine them. As for action, I had so much fun doing certain films, but you can get away with so much when it’s fantasy – you can bend a bullet and jump off something that doesn’t exist.
